Cheers for Allan

South Africa’s golfing production line continues to churn out winners with Allan Versfeld the latest to join the champions' club.

Allan’s three-shot win at the Vodacom Origins of Golf was toasted in red wine at the De Zalze GC in Stellenbosch, the centre of the nation’s vineyards.

It’s not surprising South Africa constantly unearths talent when those who would be have young role models like Charl Schwartzel and Louis Oosthuizen to look up to and inspire them.

We weren’t quite as impressive as Allan at the Challenge Tour’s English Challenge in Essex, but we did have four representatives finish in the top ten.

Seven days after his triumph in the Acaya Open, Espen Kofstad was third, just ahead of Nick Dougherty with Matthew Nixon fifth and Peter Uihlein seventh.

All eyes now turn to Akron, Ohio, where the world’s best are gathering for this week’s WGC Bridgestgone at Firestone.

We have seven representatives and all have a very good chance of enhancing their reputations over one of America’s finest courses.
