Perfect start for Peter
Article Posted: 24th May 2013
What a wonderful way for Peter Uihlein to start his professional silverware collection.
Peter came from behind in the Madeira Islands Open to claim a very impressive first win… and it won’t be the last.
Overcoming understandable nerves, last-day tension and pressure, Peter showed just what a fine prospect he is to move himself up a tier in the European Tour pecking order.
Peter’s progress has been on a continuously upward graph and it looks set to become even steeper as he establishes himself as a formidable global golfer.
Elsewhere, Charl Schwartzel impressed by finishing third at the Byron Nelson in Texas while Rhys Enoch went one better with a runner up slot at the Alps Tour’s Gösser Open.
Chris Wood reached the quarter-final at the Volvo World Match Championship, but wasn’t as lucky when switching to BMW as he had to withdraw from the PGA Championship with a return of the back injury which had kept him out for a couple of months.
The fortunes of our cricketers are well documented elsewhere, but Stuart Broad deserves a special mention here when firing England to a 140-run victory over New Zealand in the first Test at Lord’s with a superb seven-wicket haul in the second innings.
Stuart’s warming up very nicely for the Aussies later this year.
